AH! THE GREAT OUTDOORS!

2004

Pigment prints, 110x140 cm.

Edition of 3+1

These photographs came as a result of the encounter of four photographers, living and working in an exclusively urban context, with the mountains of the Durmitor natural preserve in Montenegro.

These photographs are a play with oneself: the artists are impersonating their own personnages and their own relationship with the nature. This is a relationship that usually takes place midway between two points, when the car pulls aside. For a couple of minutes, the surrounding landscape stops its endless loop of passing images and comes to a still.

These photographs are a genre play - a play with the classical hyper-realistic landscape photography, started in 1930's by Ansel Adams and meticulously followed by generations of North American photographers till now.

These photographs are a play with the public - and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
